Walk the Past
Why not explore the Past History of Port Fairy?
Two walking trails have been established within Port Fairy, the History Town Walk and Shipwreck and Maritime Heritage Walk. Both walks have self-guide walking maps made available via the Visitor Information Centre or from our Office.
Guided tours can also be arranged upon request at the Information Centre.
The Port Fairy - Warrnambool Rail Trail is a continuous 37km walking/cycling pathway which meanders through a highly scenic, diverse and relaxed part of south-west Victoria.
The trail also passes by the Historic town of Koroit.
The Mahogany Ship Walk Trail
The 22km beach walk from Warrnambool to Port Fairy passes the last known resting place of the elusive Mahogany Ship.
The area is also home to echidnas, rare hooded plovers, mutton birds and crested terns. As you meander the curves of the coastline you’ll meet wild seas and gentle bays, towering sand dunes and lava reefs.
You might be able to get a glimpse a southern right whale.
Koroit Heritage Trail
A historical and architectural Town, Koroit lies midway between Warrnambool and Port Fairy, nestled against the northern slopes of Tower Hill. Koroit has a lot of Irish History.
The Koroit Heritage Trail takes you around the Edwardian architecture, gracious public buildings, tiny worker’s cottages and gardens littered throughout town.
Koroit is 15 minutes Drive from Port Fairy.
